EQ Module for SSL's XRack
Note: Must be installed in an XRack or Mynx to function.
SSL's XRack E Series EQ Module lets you piece together up to eight EQ sections of a classic SSL SL 4000 E. The SSL EQ E Series Module incorporates the famous Black and Brown parametric EQs found on classic SSL gear. All of this circuitry is designed using SSL's acclaimed SuperAnalogue design techniques to deliver fantastic sound quality with very low noise and distortion. Inject the classic sound of one of the most famous boards of all time into your recordings with the E Series EQ Module!

SSL's Capacitor-less SuperAnalogue Design
SSL put the same ultra-quiet, capacitor-less circuitry in the XRack E Series EQ Module that they put in their super-expensive SL 4000 E mixing boards. With this capacitor-less design, you are assured that no matter how many XRack E Series EQ Modules (or other SSL XRack Modules, for that matter) you have, the units will remain phase linear year after year. This also means that each XRack E Series EQ Module is an identical copy of any other one, providing a uniform sound. The SSL XRack E Series EQ Module is the perfect way to get the classic sound of an SSL EQ section and take it with you in your rack wherever you need to record or mix.
Two EQs in one
Many producers and engineers would say that an SSL EQ is an indispensable tool for their mix. The E Series EQ Module reproduces the legendary sonic signature of an early 80's classic, the SL 4000 E console channel strip, which was featured on countless 1980's recordings. The E Series EQ Module features two different EQ's found on editions of the console produced between 1979 and 1987. Each EQ has unique response curves and tonal character. They are distinguished by the colors used on the LF knob caps so the two flavors have become known as the 'Brown' and 'Black' EQ's. On the E Series EQ Module you can switch between these two different flavors of EQ that have been loved by generations of professional producers.
Modular Rackmount Design
By offering the XRack E Series EQ Module in a convenient, vertical rackmount design, SSL is offering an opportunity to piece together a mixed-and-matched setup combining any number (up to eight per XRack) of classic SSL Dynamics Modules, Mic Amps, or EQ Modules. This allows you to build your ideal setup. If you want three pres, an EQ, and four compressors, you can. If you prefer more EQ options than Dynamics Modules, you can build it. Or if you'd like to have a 4-channel SSL Mic Amp front end with two classic EQs and two Dynamics Modules for post-recording tweaks, you can have that as well. With the XRack's modular design, you can customize the setup to suit your working style, which is quite an innovation - not to mention that all components that work with the XRack boast the legendary SSL sound.
Total Recall
The truly amazing thing about the XRack E Series EQ Module (as well as the XRack Modules) is that the XRack integrates Total Recall - an absolute first in analog equipment. Total Recall allows you to set any or all of the modules in the XRack, dial in your perfect sound, and then save the preset to one of the 32 flash memory locations. Saving presets was once territory only traversed by digital outboard gear and plug-ins, but the XRack from SSL gives you the classic SSL analog sound with the convenience of digital. Once you've built your perfect SSL setup in the XRack and found your ideal sound, save the settings for the next time you need that awesome compression or EQ you used on the last session.
