An overhauled interface design masterfully integrates form and function, providing straightforward access to a suite of creative FX, performance tools, deep Serato and DVS compatibility, and more. Serato-fueled performance like never before
Rane and Serato go way back, so it’s only appropriate that the Four DJ Controller would be the home of an innovative new way to mix with Serato Stems. Dedicated “Acapella” and “Instrumental” buttons on each deck let you quickly break out Stems, while the accompanying pad mode allows for dynamic juggling of track parts. The exclusive new Stem-Split feature means actively toggling Stems from tracks and breaking them out to separate channels, granting greater control of each song and abounding with creative opportunity. Four has two external line/phono inputs to incorporate external decks, but its DVS-enabled design provides access to the full suite of Serato DJ Pro, Pitch ‘n Time, and Serato FX.
Tools for total audio enrichment
Being no stranger to the power of audio texturizing tools, Four is loaded with 22 FX that can be triggered with the tactilely-satisfying paddles, allowing for quick, customizable, and intuitive assignment. Everything from classic reverb and echo to exciting new choices like Riser, Recycler, Scale Down, and more can be applied to individual Stems or assigned to any of the four dedicated channel FX knobs. If you’re performing with Serato FX, Four lets you painlessly change between onboard and software FX tools without skipping a beat. Each channel has its own 3-band EQ, with USB and line-input sources easily toggled from the mixer.
An intuitive and inspiring interface
Having access to a laundry list of performance tools is only as helpful as said tools are accessible. Fortunately, Rane took the necessary steps to ensure that Four’s broad-reaching capabilities were never too far away and wouldn’t overwhelm the core mechanics of playing a great set. Each highly reactive, 8.5-inch capacitive jog wheel uses center areas to display the information you need, including waveform, tempo, pitch values, Hot Cue markers, and much more, all in vivid, full color. Each deck has its own set of eight performance pads (totaling 16 for the unit), accompanied by OLED screens to actively display which FX or tools are assigned to each pad. Its Mag Four XF crossfader can have its tension freely adjusted, allowing you to dial and personalize your performance profile.
